VOGUE

This piece is not a statement which suggests how humans should behave but rather an experiment of how clothing and poses have an impact on feelings, behavior and communication. A vogue-dance teacher named James Parnell instructed me to consciously carry an intention while walking back and forth posing and battling. He uses the body as an instrument to communicate intention.

I wanted to switch that around and put the intention into the human by posing them and with that, influence their behavior.

What is ‘good’?
In a historical time where the bible had a leading role in society, philosophers were focussing on the question: what does ‘being good’ mean? as the biblical conviction was that being ‘good’ on earth, will give access to heaven.

This is when the seven virtues were being introduced:
Prudence, Justice, Temperance, Fortitude, Faith, Hope and Charity.
These virtues were an inspiration to my corset experiment. If the corsets work, they will support you to practice some of these virtues.

The small one is a neck corset, it forces the human to look op. It will support them to be honest.

The big one wil push the hips to the back and the chest to the front. It will humble the human as it makes it bend to the area they enter.
